Most of the mortise roughed out.

I cut the mortises in three passes, the first pass is a series of full length drill holes (offset by about 1/4"...or 2 1/4 turns of the vise's slide). The second pass is a series of full length drill holes every 1/16" (or 1/2 turn of the vise's slide). The third pass, I held the drill bit all the way to the bottom of the hole and used it to cut horizontally through the remaining material.

I also cleaned the hole between the 2nd and 3rd pass with compressed air.
