The frame's bottom and top panels sized down and the end of the tenon cut with the table saw.
The way I make these is to cut the boards exactly 3" longer on each end then the width between the frame sides (in this case, the frame sides are 34" apart, so these boards were cut to 40" long).
Then, on the table saw, I score a line 3" in from the end on all sides of each end. This is the end of the tenon and gives me a clean line to work up to.
This also gives me 3" long tenons, when I only need 2"...I'll cut them down later, but I have some scrap to check depths on.
